about

Welcoming Sheffield based artist eye measure for the first release of 2024.

'Why do people vomit?' is an exasperated 2-tracker posing a series of questions to the listener. Made during a scrapism course with Sam Lavigne at the School For Poetic Computation. The music was generated from a python script which gathers search engine suggestions from the phrase ‘why do people’, and spoken by Bas Bleau.

The result is a series of seemingly unrelated questions, tied together by an inexplicable common narrative. All rooted in the common disillusionment that people face battling with a world of controversy, expectations and pain. Rather than resulting in a lamenting track, it is a catharsis, paired with the cyclical grungey soundscape .

For the B-side, Rian Treanor is on remix duties adding their own dimension to the track - a perfect minimal mid-club session starter evolving into brain battering intermittent synth stabs drilling the open ended questions.
